EXPO.02 Pavilion “Magie de l'énergie”
2002 - Arteplage Neuchâtel, Switzerland

”Magie de l’énergie” – the public’s favourite at EXPO.02

In the “Magie de l’énergie” pavilion, visitors saw for themselves the transformation of water power to electricity in three scenes. The exhibition and the Arteplage Neuchâtel received four international design awards.

The pavilion shows the transformation of energy from water power into electricity in three stages: the impressive power of a waterfall – portrayed in the first room – was followed by a magical transformation show, ending in the third room with an astounding household appliance orchestra.
Not only the content of the production itself, but also the unique building shell in the form of a rock symbolised the transformation. The shiny copper façade gradually oxidised and changed colour over the course of the exhibition. “Magie de l’énergie” was designed for a broad public. The complex subject of energy conversion was conveyed with a simple yet powerful visual language, reflecting the artistic assertions of EXPO.02. Around 10,000 people visited the pavilion every day.
